Intro - Prayer
Luke 3:21 - Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying,
Prayer - proseuchomai - Pray, address. Wish forward, desiring onward. Includes many activities; petition, thanksgiving, supplication, this word describes the whole attitude of a worshipping and adoring soul in the presence of God. (The Gospel According to Luke, G Morgan Campbell, p.54)
The prayer life of Jesus becomes a theme in St. Lukes Gospel:
Luke 5:16 - Prayer as His fame was growing.
Luke 6:12 - Prayer before closing the 12 Apostles
Luke 6:28 - Bless who curse you, pray for those who abuse you
Luke 9:18 - Prayer before challenging His Apostles on His Identity
Luke 9:28 - Prayer before the Transfiguration
Luke 11:1 - Prayer; “Lord teach us to pray.”

Three Categories of Prayer:
Conversion/Consecration - Seeking the Transformation We Need
Communion - Seeking the Intimacy We Need
Cause - Advancing the Kingdom of Heaven
Conversion/Consecration - Baptism for everyone else
Communion - Baptism for Jesus - He is in deep communion with His Heavenly Father, his Abba.
