Context -   General Suffering - Pain   &     

Christian Suffering - Persecution

Jesus Endured The Heaviest 

Suffering/Pain/Persecution of All.

1.  Physical Pain - died of dehydration and asphyxiation

2.  Social Pain - Cancelled, Condemned

3.  Relational Pain - Betrayal by Friends

4.  Emotional Pain - Cried Out - Screamed

Matthew 27:46 - And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice,

anaboao - to shout out with unusually loud volume.

II Thessalonians 2:9 -They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might.

Why would Jesus do such a thing?

Two Reasons:   Our Sin and His Love.

1.  Our Sin was Cause of His Cross

I Peter 2:24 -  He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness.

2.  His Love was the Inspiration of His Cross.

John 15:3 - Greater love has no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

John 15:4 - You are my friends if you do what I command you.
