Peter 1:13-25 Sermon Notes

Intro - Imperishable

I Peter 1:23,25 - 23 since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God; … And this word is the good news (The Gospel) that was preached to you.

How are we born again?   The Gospel

The Gospel is the Good News of the Cross and Resurrection of Jesus Christ by which we become the Righteousness of God.

The Gospel is an Imperishable Seed which has been planted in the spiritual heart of the Believer.

Jesus - The classic is  The Sower and the Seed

Mark 4:13ff - 13 And he said to them, “Do you not understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables? 14 The sower sows the word

Jesus -  the Vine and Branches

John 15:5 -  5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

Apostle Paul - contrasted Works of the Flesh with Fruit of the Spirit

Galatians 5:22,23 - 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Imperishable - aphthartos - not subject to decay and death, imperishable, incorruptible, immortal, indestructible.

But I have an adult child, an adult grandchild that is so far from the faith.   -   Never Too Late by Dr. Rob Rienow.
