Intro - Obedience
Context - General Suffering - Pain;
Christian Suffering - Persecution
Suffering - Fire
I Peter 4:12 - Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal which comes upon you to prove you, as though something strange were happening to you.
1. As Believers, we are not surprised at the fiery trials we go through.
Do Not Be Surprised -
General Suffering - Believers Renounce
Christian Suffering - Believers Rejoice.
The Gospel is the Good News of the Cross and Resurrection of Jesus Christ by which we become the Righteousness of God.
I Peter 2:24 - By his wounds (stripes) you have been healed.
The fire is not a fire of Ruination but a Refiner's Fire.
I Peter 1:6-7 - 6 In this (faith in The Gospel) you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 so that the tested genuineness of your faith - more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire-may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
2. As Believers, We stay obedient to the Gospel.
I Peter 4:17-18 - 17 For the time has come for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 And
"If the righteous man is scarcely saved, where will the impious and sinner appear?"
What does it mean to Obey the Gospel of God?
